Mail Services

Students

Mail and Package Services (MPS) will continue to operate with modifications during the fall semester. Mail will continue to be delivered to residence halls in use. Students in quarantine will have packages delivered to their residence hall room in coordination with the Campus Living and Residential Education Staff. For students in isolation, their dedicated Student Support and CARE Team staff member will facilitate delivery of packages to their residence hall room.

Information on the days and times of delivery for students in quarantine and isolation will be communicated to residents of each hall by CLRE staff (for students in quarantine) or Student Support and Care Team staff (for students in isolation). For the safety of all community members, the Foggy Bottom MPS site has been modified to ensure all COVID-19-required safety protocols are met.

Faculty and Staff

For Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses: If your office will be vacant and no one present to receive mail and packages during the fall semester, department heads should inform GW Mail Services at [email protected] to ask for your mail to be held at MPS until it can be retrieved by a staff member. Staff should not have personal items delivered to campus.

For official mail/packages which need to be shipped to campus, please take the following steps to ensure they arrive if your building does not have centralized receiving (such as Ross Hall, SEH and Gelman Library).

1. Department heads should notify MPS ([email protected]) to provide the department name and names of staff authorized for departmental pick-ups.

  • A GWorld card will be required to enter MPS to retrieve items and, after Aug. 28, only faculty and staff approved for on-campus access will have tap access to MPS and other campus buildings.

2. Mail and packages should be addressed as follows:

George Washington University
Mail Services L101
YOUR DEPARTMENT  - Attn: POC (as shown on GWorld card)
2025 F St., NW
Washington, DC 20052

Deviation from this format may cause delivery delays or items returned to the sender.

3. Notification will be sent when mail/packages are ready for pick-up at MPS (Support Building - 2025 F St/Lower Level)

  • If you are not on campus, coordinate with your department head for an approved on-campus staff member to pick up your items at MPS and bring to your office.
  • If an item is too large or heavy to carry from MPS, work with the delivery provider to have it delivered to our building when an approved on-campus individual can receive it at your office.
  • Note that mail can not be forwarded from the 20052 Zip code.

Virginia Science and Technology Campus: Mail and packages from UPS, USPS and FedEx delivered this fall to VSTC will be centrally received at the Enterprise Hall mailroom and then delivered to the designated mail drop area or picked up according to your pickup instructions.

  • If your office will be vacant and no one present to receive mail and packages during the fall semester, please inform GW Mail Services at [email protected] to ask for your mail to be held at VSTC mail room until it can be retrieved by a staff member.
  • Packages delivered directly by Amazon will be delivered to the address on the shipping label.  If you will not be at your office to receive packages from Amazon drivers, please have your package addressed to the VSTC mail room using  the following address format:

 The George Washington University

 Enterprise Hall

 Mail Services B84

YOUR DEPARTMENT  - Attn: POC (as shown on GWorld card)

 44983 Knoll Square

Ashburn, VA 20147

Deviation from this format may cause delivery delays or items returned to the sender.
