Important Update on Return to Campus Date

June 30, 2021

Dear Faculty and Staff,

I hope that you are enjoying summer and finding well-deserved time away with family and friends.  I know many are working hard, both on campus and at home, to prepare for fall, and I remain grateful for everything you are doing for our university.  It has been exciting to see so much progress in recent weeks toward our “new normal.”

As we consider our operational milestones over the coming months, I recognize that you may be wondering about an official return to campus date.  While I know many of our faculty and staff already have returned to campus or plan to soon, we expect all university offices will be open for in-person services by August 16.

I want to emphasize that individual circumstances may vary based on guidance from your school or unit leadership. Our August 16 date is general guidance that ensures we are ready for the fall and available to provide consistent, predictable in-person services to our community in time for the start of the main academic calendar.  Leadership in your school or unit may follow up with you directly with specific expectations.

As we continue our progress toward the fall, I also want to remind you that all faculty and staff are required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine unless approved for an exemption. I urge you to upload your documentation in the medical portal as soon as possible and no later than August 1 once you have received the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine.  Instructions for this process are available online.

Thank you again for everything you are doing to support our successful return to campus this fall.  I look forward to seeing many more of you on campus soon!

Sincerely,

Thomas J. LeBlanc
President
