COVID-19 UPDATE: Stay-At-Home Order

March 30, 2020

On March 30, 2020, Mayor Muriel Bowser ordered that all District of Columbia residents should stay at home to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Residents are ordered to avoid all non-essential travel in their communities. Similar orders were issued by the governors of Maryland and Virginia today as well.

The George Washington University takes very seriously this guidance from our regional government officials, and wants to reinforce the message to our students, faculty, and staff.

To our students living on campus, please only leave your residence in accordance with D.C. guidelines.

Only designated on-site employees should travel to and from our campuses. Current telework requirements for our employees and guidance for designated on-site employees remain in place.

GW urges all our community members to take care of themselves during this taxing and stressful time. We realize that this is a period of uncertainty for many, and you may be experiencing a variety of emotions. Please practice self-care during this time and focus on your physical, mental and physical well-being.

If you need emergency assistance, please call GWPD at 202-994-6111 or 911.
