Changes to the Financial Hold and Registration Policy for the 2020-21 Academic Year

October 05, 2020

Dear Students:

In these extraordinary times and beyond, GW is identifying ways to demonstrate care for our community and acknowledge ongoing financial complications for students and families as a result of the pandemic. As part of that effort, we would like to announce a change to our hold policy for the current registration cycle.

Beginning in October, the hold threshold for future registration will temporarily increase to $2,500. All active students with a balance below that threshold will be eligible to register for spring 2021 and summer 2021.

In addition, the Student Accounts Office will be reaching out to active students with qualifying balances below $20,000 to offer enrollment in a separate payment plan that will allow students to pay their outstanding balance over up to 36 months (minimum monthly payment of $100). Participation is optional. Students who enroll in a payment plan will be eligible to register for spring 2021 and will not be charged interest and late fees.

We are committed to ensuring that students have the resources they need to continue their education during these challenging times. If there are any questions, please contact Student Accounts at 202-994-7350 or via email at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Mark Diaz
